Justine + Jesse . engaged!

I met up with Justine and Jesse as the last remnants of winter hung on to the city. We met up by Dow’s Lake on a day when it had been warm enough for the ice to have melted, but not enough for there to be actual water. I thought it might be cool to get out in the middle of the snow-covered lake, but thought it might not be worth the risk. We discovered though, that it was perfectly safe for small, ambitious dogs!

We walked around the Arboretum for a good part of the afternoon, and then off to Preston St. to reconnect a bit with the time they spent in Italy. Thanks for a great afternoon guys! A few faves here, and a handful more on my facebook page.

Winter seemed a bit short this year didn’t it? It doesn’t seem like that long that I met up with Emily and Matt on the Rideau Canal for their engagement shoot. After a short skate downtown, we went for a walk beside the canal, stopped off for a beavertail, and strolled through Confederation Park to take in a bit of winterlude.

I met up with Sabrina and Sébastien on a beautiful day at the Aylmer Marina. It was a clear, sunny (and a bit windy…) day and took advantage of all that beautiful sunset light as we walked around the Marina. We stopped off on the small beach for a ‘family’ portrait, and then off to the Byward Market to spend a bit of time in the courtyards where they first met.

Michaela and Joe wanted to go to two locations for their engagement shoot. Now — I always encourage couples to pick a place that means something to them, so I don’t know why I thought it was an unusual place to do part of a shoot. It turned out to be a good bit of fun watching them pore through the vinyl collection, and picking out a few of their favourites. Both being music lovers, they told me they spend quite a bit of time together exploring for good music — and playing too! After CD Warehouse, we spent the rest of the shoot in Vincent Massey Park, where I was fortunate to be an audience of one as they played songs for each other against the backdrop of the fall colours.

Annie, Bernard and I met up on a gorgeous spring evening in New Edinburgh. We went down to a nearby lake, and then off to the bridges near old City Hall. Both places I’ve never been before, but which Annie and Bernard have gone to often.

Adele, Andrew and I took a pleasant stroll through downtown Ottawa on a pleasant winter evening. We started at the spider in front of the National Gallery, around back near Nepean point, up to Parliament Hill and through the courtyards in the market.

We had originally planned to do their engagement photos on what would turn out to be the coldest day of the year (so far…), what we got instead was a gorgeous, sunny Saturday afternoon on the first day of Winterlude. I met up with Amy and Joel downtown. Our first stop was Parliament Hill, then off through Major’s Hill Park, a quick stop by the Basilica where they’ll be getting married this coming fall, and finally on to the Canal.

I met up with Erin and Julian downtown on a frigid December evening. We walked up to Parliament Hill hoping to warm up a bit by the Centennial Flame, only to find no flame! Figuring the next best thing would be a hot chocolate, we went around Parliament for a bit and headed back down and stopped in Milestone’s for a bit before wandering around the market as the sun went down.
