Ida + Rob . married!

While most of the world was at work, a dinosaur and a lovely other dinosaur were married in the heart of the market in the presence of a handful of their closest friends and family. Originally their ceremony and lunch to follow were supposed to be at the Courtyard restaurant, but a fire forced a relocation to Foundation – not a bad plan B by any stretch of the imagination.

I met up with Ida and Rob early on a Friday morning for photos. We made our way through the courtyards in the market and up by majors hill park for a bit before making our way to Foundation for a lovely ceremony under the glass canopy, and an outstanding lunch in the restuarant. All in all, a great way to spend a gorgeous Friday downtown.

Amen + Trevor . married! (part 2)

While they exchanged vows in Ottawa (Part 1 here), the celebration would be had a little while later at the Glencairn golf club just outside Toronto in Milton. I met up with Amen and Trevor just before the festivities would get under way. We were chauffeured by golf cart to a beautiful spot on the course and Amen and Trevor were free to enjoy the rest of the evening, highlighted by kind words from parents, and some beautiful song and dance from friends and other family.

Crys + Mike . married!

If they ask, I always tell couples to pick spots that are meaningful for them. So when they listed Goodlife as one of their photo locations and told me how they met in spin class – how could I say no?

Crys and Mike were married on a bright, hot and sunny July afternoon. I started the day with the guys at home, and then off to the Westin with the girls. We walked over to the Notre Dame Basilica for the ceremony, where in a brilliant act of foresight, Crys and Mike had programs that doubled as fans. Afterward, while we were taking the group shot in front of the church, the darkest of dark clouds threatened to rain on our parade but it happened to just miss us.

After lunch at the Black Thorn Cafe, Crys, Mike and I went around the market for photos, to MAC at the Rideau Centre for a quick make up adjustment, to Goodlife Fitness for a quick spin, and then back out downtown to hit the locks, Parliament and then to the NAC for a beautiful reception under the rooftop tent.

Ida + Rob . engaged!

I met up with Ida and Rob on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Arboretum. Always a popular place for photos, I wanted to look for something fresh. Luckily Ida and Rob were willing to let me explore a bit and we found a few out-of-the-way places and some new angles on old favourites. After that we headed to Hogs Back to spend a bit of time by the falls. Our last stop was Mooney’s Bay where they were still dismantling from the HOPE volleyball tournament. That meant a short stay there, but a good one.

Laura + Joel . married!

They agreed not to get each other gifts.

But from the minute she opened the box Joel had sent for her and opened the locket inside, I’m not sure Laura stopped smiling the rest of the day and well into the night.

Laura and Joel were married on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Trinity United in their hometown of Smiths Falls. Laura and Joel’s childhood homes just happen to be a stones throw away from each other, which made it extra-easy for me to spend some time with both the guys and the girls. I started the day with Joel and arrived just as he was putting on the finishing touches, when I got to Laura’s, she was all ready to go – there was just one more small box to open.

A short rickshaw ride would whisk them away from the ceremony and then it was off to Perth for photos at Stewart Park (where we had some time to kill while another wedding ceremony was taking place). Dinner and lots of dance were at Code’s Mill. Thanks for an an awesome day Laura and Joel, and congrats again! Here are just a few faves from the day.

Amen and Trevor were married at Ottawa City Hall on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Surrounded by family, they exchanged vows in an intimate, brief but no less emotional ceremony. We spent some time around city hall itself and down by the canal for a few photos before they were chauffeured away in one of Trevor’s father’s vintage cars for a reception. I’ll be rejoining Amen and Trevor later this month near Toronto for their reception at the Glencairn Golf and Country Club.

So you’ve probably noticed that things are looking a little different all over the place. I have been slowly but surely switching my branding over to a new look, which means a new logo, a new website, new blog, new lots of new-looking stuff. But not everything is new – it’s still the same style of photography, the same approach and dedication to capturing the moments that matter, and the same amazing albums, guestbooks, and prints that showcase your images to their best.

So there you have it – hope you like it as much as I do!

It was supposed to rain all day. When Leigh stepped out of the church to see the sun shining through the clouds, she chalked it up to luck. Then when the sun stayed out for the rest of the day, she knew exactly why.

Leigh and Shawn were married on what turned out to be (what we thought would be) an impossibly beautiful day in June. I spent some time with the girls at Leigh’s place for the preparations, then off to South Minster United for the ceremony. Much to everyone’s surprise, the sun was shining when we left the church, so we headed to the Arboretum right away in case the clouds would come back. I suppose thanks to the threat of rain, the normally busy Arboretum was fairly quiet (the ornamental gardens across the road however…), so we spent a bit of time walking around before heading off to the Hunt Club for a few more photos, and then for dinner and dance.

Amanda + Tim . married!

On a perfect saturday afternoon in May, Amanda and Tim’s closest friends and family gathered at St. Paul’s Presbyterian to share in their long-awaited marriage. Their ceremony was highlighted by the musical talents and voices of a number of friends, who would later on be the sound and voice for a surprise performance before dinner, and for their first dance after — as unique and heartfelt a way to celebrate your friends as any.

After the ceremony, I met Amanda, Tim and all 18 members of their wedding party to trek around downtown. We walked down Sparks Street towards the Supreme Court, the steps of which are under some kind of construction (much to my disappointment) – but we made do. Afterward, we made our way on the bike path behind Parliament, up the Rideau Canal locks and finally to the Panorama Room at the NAC, where dinner and dance would be held.

Pierina + Tim . married!

Pierina and Tim were married on a gorgeous sunday in May that felt a little more like July. I started the day at Hotel Indigo to spend some time with the guys and the girls while they were getting ready, and then it was off to the Dow’s Lake pavilion. As if the view wasn’t enough, Lago’s upstairs was beautifully decorated for the ceremony, which was moving at times, sweet at others, and funny the rest. We went off to the Arboretum for photos, and made a quick stop at the Victoria Day Festival for a private carousel ride on our way back to Lago, where friends and family assembled once again upstairs for dinner and dance.

Thanks for an awesome day Pierina and Tim, and an extra special thanks to Nicole and Cristie from Stellar Events for keeping the show running smoothly – both of them an absolute pleasure to work with and to have around. Nancy from Wedecor provided the spectacular decor and the beautiful flowers.
