okay so it’s been dead pretty quiet around here but let’s face it, december to february isn’t exactly wedding season in Ottawa. So just to keep things somewhat fresh around here, I thought I’d post some photos from a trip to Italy my wife and I took this past Spring for our honeymoon!
We were all over northern Italy for just over two weeks. We came back with over 2,000 photos (yes you read that right), and I made a book of about 1,200 of them. I was showing the book off at Christmas and my cousin-in-law insisted I post some of these for all to see.
So here’s day 1 – flying into Rome and arriving at a bed and breakfast with an owner who didn’t speak english and possibly the best. view. ever.
the terrace where we had our breakfast each morning
The courtyard of our b&b – there was no roof, so if you wanted to park your scooter there, gotta have a tarp
Our first stop was St. Peter’s Square. It literally took my breath away. We took two steps into the square and just stood there, trying to take it all in. They were getting ready for a papal address in a couple of days so they had literally thousands of chairs lined up and fenced off in front of the Basilica.

Made our way out of the square to the Castel Sant’Angelo and the Bridge of Angels. Wouldn’t you know it, a couple was getting their wedding photos taken there.

We did a bit of walking around and went to the Piazza Navona for dinner – our first taste of genuine Italian cuisine. yum!

After dinner, we stopped on the Bridge of Angels to catch the last of the sunset… (this shot is definitely one of my favourites from the whole trip)
…and back through St. Peter’s Square. Funny thing – absolutely packed during the day, practically deserted at night.
and then back home to our view at night.
So that was Day 1 – I figure I’ll post a bunch of these every week so I hope you enjoy them ’til more engagement shoots start coming and then wedding time gets underway.
