After the ceremony, I met Amanda, Tim and all 18 members of their wedding party to trek around downtown. We walked down Sparks Street towards the Supreme Court, the steps of which are under some kind of construction (much to my disappointment) – but we made do. Afterward, we made our way on the bike path behind Parliament, up the Rideau Canal locks and finally to the Panorama Room at the NAC, where dinner and dance would be held.

But with all the legalities out of the way, perhaps it meant even more to them to gather friends and family and be married by Samantha’s grandfather under the trees in beautiful Stewart Park in Perth. While it was raining a bit in Ottawa, Samantha and Jon got nothing but sunshine and warm weather all day and well into the evening. We took advantage of the gorgeous surroundings of the park, stopping for photos on the bridges and in the trees. Dinner and dance was at the nearby Crystal Palace.

Julie and Mathieu were married on a rainy spring evening at Strathmere. From what I gather, neither Julie nor Mathieu are ones to easily shy away from a challenge, so when the forecast called for a 90% chance of 10-15mm of rain, they simply adjusted accordingly. While the ceremony was moved indoors, we decided to brave the wet and cold to take all of the photos outside. The rain held off for the most part, and whether by umbrella or by building, we managed to stay (mostly) dry for the rest (thanks Joel!).

The ceremony, dinner, and dance were all held inside the Garden House where they were joined by family and friends from near, and as far away as Australia. Congratulations Julie and Mathieu! Thanks for braving the elements, and for an awesome day!

In some ways, the ceremony was quite intimate. As the snow fell on around 40 close friends and family, gathered around to watch Emily and Andrew exchange vows, it didn’t take long for them to be joined by skaters casually passing through; some of who stayed around to offer their congratulations afterward. A quick warm up and Emily and Andrew donned skates for a post-wedding skate down the canal. I followed them all the way down to the Bank street bridge and then it was time to get back to Emily’s parents house for dinner.
